Jaime Vigil is president and chief executive officer of Republic Steel and serves as a member of the company's board of directors.
Since becoming president and CEO in 2006, Vigil has re-emphasized Republic's efforts to produce the highest quality products at competitive prices to best serve customers and other stakeholders. He has worked diligently to maintain Republic's pristine balance sheet with no external debt.
Vigil has identified new opportunities for Republic to invest and grow in key target markets. He has been instrumental in strengthening relationships with suppliers, customers and technological leaders in the steel industry. He recently visited Japan to meet with customers and technology partners, and has made numerous visits to other customers. In addition, he is tapping export opportunities to prepare for business growth opportunities.
Vigil serves on the board of directors of the Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA). He received his degree in business administration from Universidad Anahuac.
Vigil previously served as an executive adviser to Republic following its acquisition in July 2005 by Industrias CH, S.A. de C.V. (ICH), the Mexico City-based steel producer and processor. He also served as CEO of Pytsa Industrial S.A. de C.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of ICH, and also as ICH's investor relations manager. He previously served as an alternate director for ICH's board of directors.
